History

Nathan games is a part of the Nathan Company. That is a French Publishing house, with an important part in French history. You can find their history and more information on their website.  Their range consists of educational games, electronic games and jigsaw puzzles. In 1998 these game were bought by Ravensburger. Still, Ravensburger didn’t have the rights to using the logo, since it was a property of the Nathan brand. In 2007 the Spanish company Diset produces new gaming having the rights to produce games with the Nathan logo.  These educational games, have very good sales in the French market. In other words, the branding went away just after the change of hands to Ravensburger, but today the making of the puzzles from France is transported to Ravensburg.

Box

Nathan Biox Side

The boxes of the company, are of good quality. They come wrapped in a plastic that protects them.

In the front side we will find the image of the puzzle, the number of the pieces, the title (in French) as well as the logo of the company. At the sides, you will find again the logo, the number of the pieces, the title, the dimensions (in cm) and the artist. Sometimes the year is also stated, but that’s not necessary. Apart from this, there are some codes and a barcode. At the back side you can find some information about the company and the range of their products. The whole text is written in the French language. Lastly, they have an Internet link which directs you to the French site of Ravnesburger. In small text they also write that the product is made eco-friendly, in Europe by Ravensburger with the permission of Nathan.

When it comes to the quality of the box, you could say it is the typical European  box from Ravensburger.

The Puzzle

In the box you can find the pieces in a plastic bag. Apart from the pieces, there is nothing else on the box.

If we had to describe the pieces in a sentence, we would say that they are like the pieces from Ravensburger, which is expected considering their history.

The material is cardboard, which is the most common material nowadays.

The pieces themselves are quite thick, and seem to be robust. They don’t disappoint. They are the typical, grid cut pieces. Their cut is clean and they fit well together. Usually we didn’t have any doubt  if they were in the right place. All the pieces were separated, and they didn’t seem to fall apart by puzzling. That is an important factor for people who want to make their puzzles for more than one time. We still have our doubts about the differentiation of the cut since they are made by Ravensburger, and by Ravensburger we have found puzzles which that thing was an issue, especially when it comes to bigger puzzles.

When someone wants to move more pieces around, he may have some difficulties. We cannot say that the pieces are loose, but still not so fit as to stay together for the transport without any help.

The print bright and clear. We didn’t see any faded colors or images that were blurry. Their thickness is very good, give a high quality feeling and the impression that you can puzzle with them again and again.

The Price Tag, Value for Money

We have not heard any bad comments or experiences about the brand from the community. Still, you have to bear in min that this brand is not so famous as some other ones. The consumers are generally happy with them. We were happy too with our personal experiences. When it comes to their price, we would say they are in mid-range, having the typical prices of a European brand. Hence, their Value for money is good, and are definitely worth a try.
